Hi everyone! I'm Teacher Marisa from the Philippines. I'm happy to post my resume here with a strong desire to teach online English to Korean students and perhaps other students from other countries.
I'd like to teach online only. I have been teaching online for the past 13 months since January 2009. I also taught face-to-face lessons to many Korean students when I was in college, to 2 Japanese elementary students before too. I usually go to my students' houses to teach them English one-on-one. I've been to Korea for three years (1993-1997). I can speak, read and write basic Korean words but I need time to practice it. I graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from
the University of the Philippines.
I have Skype and Yahoo Messenger at home and at the office. I have a stable and speedy internet access at home where I do my online teaching. My main job is at the City Hall of my town as a government employee.
Well, I wish everyone the best in their English language learning and I hope to see your message here soon. I hope to start teaching for you, so please get in touch with me.
Sincerely yours,
Teacher Marisa

During my year and six months as an English instructor in the city of Daejeon, South Korea, I have been simultaneously employed at several institutions. Primarily at YBM ECC, I instructed children from ages 3 until 16 to achieve high scores on TOEFL and TOEIC tests respectively. Also, as a highly effective and popular teach amongst children and parents, I received many awards of best teacher within the academy. This also gain personal recognition of two public schools' administers (Sang-Ji, and Deok-San Elementary Schools) which whom sub-contracted me to be their personal English instructor. Lastly, I also have been a resident instructor for adult business, and conversation classes for such companies as: Hanwha Chemical Research, Kookmin Call Center, and Han Sung Sysco. The professionalism shown at these places interested my pupils into renewing my original 3 month sub-contracts several times.
In maintaining a professional demeanor in Seoul, South Korea; I was responsible for conducting classes to adults using a variety of methods and medias. My responsibilities included teaching over 100 students on a variety of proficiency levels. Some of methods included corrective feedback on errors, as well as cultural guidance using English television and radio medias.
I also had the privilege of formerly being employed by the State of Michigan’s Legislature. During this time I have polished communication skills through successfully proofs reading reports and documents crucial to the workings of the State that later were used by newspapers, policy makers, and citizens. I was praised for my professionalism and accuracy as an intern, a clerk messenger, and a constituent case worker, that allowed me to be promoted to work in many capacities.
I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration. Some of my academic works included public policy in Asian foreign affairs, economic models, and statistical analysis. Also during my undergraduate I took several language classes in both Japanese and Korean.
Currently, I am perusing a master’s degree in the field of international cooperation at Yonsei University. During my first semester at this university, I have maintained a relatively respectable grade point average of 3.75. I also am active in a number of student associations, primarily as a new editor with the International Graduate School’s academic journal. Ultimately, my goal is to better cultural understanding between Korea and America through positive interaction.
Hopefully my past experiences make me an excellent choice to teach, and represent Americans in your program. I would be very eager and willing to respond to any further questions.
