 PROJECT MANAGER - PROJECT ASIA, INC. (WWW.PROJECTASIA.COM) 2006 – PRESENT
Our services include Project Management and New Product Development for manufacture in China for items such as Consumer Electronics, Medical, and Fitness products. Our clients include:
• www.livespeakr.com – a portable battery powered sound system for the iPhone. Concept through delivery; sold online direct and through web affiliates.
• www.bielcorp.com – a portable, disposable, and battery powered medical pain relief product. Sold internationally. Customer is currently seeking FDA approval in the US.
• www.pantone.com – monitor color calibration products. I was retained by the FACTORY to help manage the customer and solve engineering issues that were affecting production throughput.
• www.peakpowercycling.com – New product development that combines strength training and cycling. Target market is cycling professionals and enthusiasts. Managed from concept to shipping product. Designed in USA and manufactured in mainland China.
• www.ultimatesportsequipment.com - custom strength and cardio fitness equipment designed for home and commercial (health club) use. 2 containers per month shipping from China.
• www.bodyforce.com – a small footprint multi-function strength product that provides over 100 exercises in a small space. Design and management at a China based facility.
• www.thezeroscale.com – a consumer electronic health product. A bathroom scale that tracks your weight changes over time. Distribution via infomercial and QVC. Also developed an up-sell pedometer.

 PROJECT MANAGER - STAR TRAC FITNESS (WWW.STARTRAC.COM) 2003 – 2006
Star Trac Fitness is a company that develops cardio vascular and strength exercise equipment for the commercial health club market. Oversee all new product development related to Entertainment Offerings including TV, Touch-Screen Interface, and User Exercise Tracking. Selected achievements include:
• Successfully managed the development and launch of a 2.4 GHz wireless cadence computer for the Spinning indoor cycling product line. Managed China based engineering and manufacturing. Manufactured in China and delivered with a 45% profit margin to US and Europe warehouse locations.
• Successfully launched a “bolt-on” TV bracket accessory used to retrofit LCD TVs to fielded cardio products. Identified, audited, and selected China-based partner to provide cast and extruded aluminum turn-key products. Creation of quality plan and production line SOPs for product quality control. Negotiated 100% tooling amortization and 75-day payment terms with production vendor.
• Performed requirements gathering and authored a series of functional specifications for a touch-screen based interface for treadmill and cycle products. Managed ID and user experience definitions. Gathered RFQ from 5 suppliers in China and performed factory audits. Prototype electronics and software development.
• Implemented a companywide bug tracking database and templates for software testing and validation; introduced HALT testing procedures for newly developed PCBAs; leader of an internal cross-functional team and managed all outside domestic and international suppliers through production cross-over for RoHS (lead-free) compliance for all electronic assemblies.
 HANDHELD DEVICE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - PDA360 (WWW.PDA360.COM) 2001 – 2003
PDA360 is a service based organization providing custom enterprise software development for Handheld Computers (Palm and PocketPC) systems. Our clients include:
• Consumer (HP, Palm Inc, Sony Electronics) – developed and licensed an “on the device” software solution called the Download Center. This software allowed for over-the-air (OTA) software downloads and installation. This development was many years prior to the well known Apple iTunes store functionality. Focused mainly on “pushing” enterprise software updates to employees.
• Wireless (AT&T, Wireless Knowledge, Novatel Wireless) - developed core wireless drivers, and XML based software solutions. AT&T also licensed the Download Center product for inclusion on their shipping devices.
• Automotive (Kawasaki, Lexus, Volvo) - created “e-brochure” solutions for the Lexus / Toyota website that allows consumers to customize and select auto shopping features (model, paint colors, rims, and accessories). The resulting digital brochure was downloaded to the customer’s handheld device for offline viewing. Based on zip code, the local dealer’s contact details were also added to the customer’s device.
• Research (Georgia State, San Diego State, UC Irvine, Univ. of Washington, USC) - developed research software used for cancer research, smoking cessations (stop smoking), and brain reaction time solutions for handheld devices.
• Lead software engineer and architect for the company’s development projects.
• Managed a team of 2 software developers and various outside consultants.

 MOBILE PHONE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER - QUALCOMM / KYOCERA WIRELESS 1998 – 2000
As a staff engineer, worked as a member of a 10-person software team to develop the first smart phone called the pdQ -- a consumer product that combines cell phone and PDA functionality into a single device.
• Developed a “tap and dial” enabled address book application.
• Implementation of the callto: syntax from the device web browser. Tap a link to browse a website.
• Implemented a speed dial application that allows the user to sort and filter contact details to manage the phone-based speed dial application. Designed user interface and performed all software development.
• Teamwork - developed intra-application communication APIs; performed design reviews; interfaced with Marketing and Product Support to create a developer forum for posting technical questions and responded as a moderator; listed as an inventor on several Company-owned patents.

 SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MGR - SINGLETAP, INC. (WWW.SINGLETAP.COM) 1997 – 2001
SingleTap provides sales tools designed to help automotive retailers improve closing ratios by placing car comparison details in the hands salesperson while on the car lot, using Palm and PocketPC handheld devices. Our clients include Lexus / Toyota and various privately owned automotive dealerships.
• Lead software engineer and architect.
• Managed a team of 3 software developers.
• Project Manager and liaison for the Lexus IT and marketing departments.
• Also provided relationship management with Lexus creative group called TeamOne.


 SOFTWARE DEVELOPER – GVOX (WWW.GVOX.COM) 1997 - 1998
GVOX offers software and hardware solutions focused on the education and notation of music composition. A pitch detection device was attached to an electric or acoustic guitar. The software then showed your finger and string selections in real-time -- while you are playing -- in comparison to the correct note and finger placement of the song selected.
• Lead engineer of the Macintosh user application.
• Developed firmware and drivers for pitch detection.
• The core application used an Adobe Flash interface. Developed plug-in and intra-communication for the Flash engine.
• Supported the composition creative team in the development of flash based graphics and timing interfaces.

 SOFTWARE DEVELOPER – ONBASE TECHNOLOGIES 1994 – 1997
OnBase Technology began as an enterprise software solution company developing MRP systems for small business manufacturers. Later the company transformed into a custom embedded hardware/software consulting organization, supplying turn-key medical and fitness electronics solutions to other manufacturers.
• Developed and manufactured turn-key embedded electronics and software for Schwinn and Cybex cardio product lines. Embedded processors and C code was used to light LEDs and control treadmill motors and bike load systems.
• Development of the Macintosh version of the “HotSync” synchronization software for Palm Computing.
• Development partner for the Business Solutions Unit of Apple Computer to create a multi-user Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) Software for Macintosh computers.
• Developed an Internet bookmark manager application called DragNet as a plug-in into the Netscape browser for Macintosh and Windows. Distribution through retail locations and mail order.
